"The VibroGym Professional was designed and patented by Latam BV of Holland in March 2000. To this day it is manufactured to the same design and specification.

From 2000 to March 2004 the equipment was marketed under the Power Plate brand. The UK operations of Power Plate were headed by Kevin Barclay-Webb.

In 2003 Power Plate International were discovered making counterfeit copies of the Latam unit in the Far East and selling them under the Power Plate brand. When confronted with this Power Plate chose to break all their existing relationships. All links with Latam BV and Kevin Barclay-Webb were severed. Power Plate decided to manufacture a completely new vibration platform under their own name using different design and materials.

Power Plate and their Next Generation platform are in no way connected with Latam BV or Kevin Barclay-Webb.

Kevin Barclay-Webb and his new company Power Products Global Ltd continues to sell the same award winning unit that was designed and patented by Latam BV in March 2000.

Up to March 2004 any awards, publicity or testimonials won by the Latam BV unit will bear the Power Plate name . Power Plate have issued legal proceedings to stop the public from seeing these items of recognition. To add further confusion they have included items on their own website which are attributed to the Power Plate Classic.

The Power Plate Classic has never existed as a physical unit. Power Plate use the name to describe the unit designed and patented by Latam BV in March 2000 which they used to sell. This "renaming" enables them to associate their brand with a successful product without having to mention either Latam or VibroGym
